A beautiful painting of the old foot bridge that was 275 feet long, and hung 15 feet above the water. It was the chief means of enabling the children from the east side (Gold Brook Road) to attend the MacCharles School on the opposite side of the river. Although the bridge served other purposes, the catering to the school children was most important. In 1954 when the MacCharles School closed because of low enrollment, the bridge fell into disrepair.
